Visa - Part 1
*morphs into a Target Dummy*
*prepares to get shot by bullets and arrows*
LOL ok so I know I slacked big time.... especially after failing to keep my new year's resolution. +_+ And Lai Ching just reminded me that I still haven't posted the remaining entries of my 8-day road trip. ROFL it's been almost half a year since then Y_Y Sorry........ I already have all the pictures uploaded though so that's a start, right? Hehehee.... *thinks of more lame excuses*
Anyways this post isn't about that. This is about my visa.... not visa as in credit card, but my US visa :D Long story short, it costed me RM517 for the visa application, I went to KL two weeks ago for the interview, it got approved, and now I can plan my trip. But then obviously there interesting things which happened somewhere during that timeline, so I won't be mean enough to just stop here.
So 2 weeks ago, I scheduled my visa interview and got ready to visit the embassy on a Friday. Thursday night, about 10pm, I checked all my documents again to be safe. Everything I wanted I've already printed. I took out the application form again to look at my details, and something caught my eyes. DAMN I forgot to get my visa photo taken. I almost gave up hope that I'd be getting the visa done. I started searching the internet for photo centers near pudu to no avail. Since my plan was to take the train to KLCC and take a cab from there to the embassy, I searched for photo centers near KLCC... found some but none too near and none opening that early in the morning. I'm doomed, I told myself. I kept calling myself stupid to forget such an important thing. I've been busy during the week, going to my granduncle's place right after work and don't return home till after 9pm so I didn't check my visa application till Thursday night.
Then my brother came home from work, heard my story, looked at the addresses of the photo centers suggested by the US embassy, and gave me suggestions. His suggestion was to get the 5.30am bus up to KL, arrive there about 8am, take the train from Pasar Seni to Ampang (since he said the morning buses will stop at Pasar Seni before reaching Pudu), take the exit that leads to the mall, get the photo taken at the mall, and then take a cab or walk to the US embassy.
I arrived about 8am, and OMG the trains were packed like sardine cans. I couldn't find any room to get in to the first train, so I decided to wait for the next, seeing that I was first in line then. The next train came quick, after only a minute. I'm confident I was going to get a spot in the trai, but as soon as it arrived, no one came out from the car I was waiting at!!! +_+ GAH! There was hardly any space, and I don't know how I did it, but I just threw myself in the train and managed to get in it. Now comes the hard part.... keeping my balance while the train's moving because I was no where near anything I can hold. @_@ I bent my legs and little, and put a lot of pressure on my feet to stable myself everytime the train curves, or makes a stop. About 70% of the people got off the train at the KLCC stop. o.O Do that many people work there or nearby? Anyways the next stop is my stop, Ampang.
Got off the train, saw the direction pointing towards Ampang Park and headed that way with the crowd. It was still early, so I hoped there was some place I can have breakfast at while waiting for the photo center to open. Saw McD and without even looking at the other Kopitiam shops there, I walked right to McD. I ordered my usual, Sausage McMuffin with egg, and it costs a whopping RM10!!! Urgh when did McD get so expensive :( Right as I was taking my food from the counter, the guy beside me ordered "Special Breakfast" then I looked up and saw what it was. A sausage McMuffin and coffee. But onlu for RM5! Dammit I should have looked at the promos before buying. Oh well....
So I ate, drank and then I was off. Big mistake. I should have wasted my time eating and drinking.... all the shops were still closed. There were a few photo centers opened but the one recommended by the US Embassy was still closed. I'd rather wait for that cos I was afraid the other ones didn't know the requirements for the visa photo. So I basically walked around the place (with empty shops mind you) about 30 times. I think the people having their breakfast at the Kopitiam must be thinking I'm a crazy girl or something +_+ I thought about that too, so I decided to just stand at the exit of the train station and wait there instead. Just looking at people buying nasi lemak for breakfast, people taking the bus to work, the busy street, the taxi stand where there is only 1 taxi waiting, which got me worried cos I am going to take one from here later so I hope there would be more then.
After all the waiting, I dropped by the place AGAIN and now they're starting to open up. I needed to use the restroom too but it's opened at 9.00am so I couldn't go earlier ARGH.... I scooted there while waiting for the shop to open, then came back and yay finally I can have my photo taken. I didn't even ask for the price LOL =_= At that point of time I was willing to be paying a high price cos of my stupidity in not getting the photo taken earlier. The guy told me it would only take 5 mins for it to be printed (the ad on the store wrote 15, so I was uber happy for this too) but when I asked him if I should come back later or wait, he told me to wait. Lol I think he's afraid I might run off. So I looked around the shop, looking at cameras and handphones and gadgets and stuff.... then finally... DONE! It costed me RM20 for 4 pieces of photo but oh well, it was worth it. And I even asked him for glue so I can stick it to my application form LOL XD
Now I'm all set to get to my interview!! YAY!!! But that's another post! Boo! ROFL! XD
By the way....This is the 4th time composing this damn post.... grrrr..... First time was cos I got stuck in a meeting and my e-mail timed out so it got closed. Second time was because I was way busy before lunch and then went out for lunch and forgot to save the mail so it got closed too. The third time, which is today, I went out for lunch and forgot bout my mail AGAIN. Le sigh.... and in that previous mail I actually wrote "This is the 3rd time composing it..." Lase phail.... =_= So there you have it, a proper blog post from yours truly XD
